Dedicated to the artistic tradition of converting personal experiences into a generative and contemplative science.

SamDakota is an illustrator, story-teller, and printmaker dedicated to the artistic tradition of converting personal experiences into a generative and contemplative science. Through constant cycles of exploration, observation, imagination, and extrapolation, he collects, constructs, and distributes visual messages that move fluidly between drawings, heuristic models, commercial products, and public safety announcements. While the imagery is often dark or satirical, time and consideration can rearrange the elements into patterns of thought that provide holistic frameworks for describing, reflecting, and maneuvering through a shared experience of contemporary humanity without getting lost in rhetorical traps or illogical illusions.  SamDakota received a BA in Biology from Middlebury College in 2008 and an MFA through the printmaking department at the Columbia University School of Visual Arts in 2013.
