Erin Juliana attended Maryland Institute College of Art for her BFA and Masters in Arts and Teaching and received an MFA in drawing and painting from Brooklyn College CUNY. Juliana’s work has been exhibited at the 440 Gallery, National Art Education Headquarters, the VisArts Gallery, La Bodega Gallery, and Eastern Kentucky University.
Juliana creates paper cuts and paintings that include images of the figure, filigree, architecture, geometric patterns, and medical diagrams. These images are derived from her history of spinal deformity and fascination with the symmetrical elements of decorative art. Her work explores the tension between the organic and geometric that exists in her own body, and critiques what is considered abject pertaining to the female figure.
