James Petrozzello is a photographer living in Brooklyn, New York.

While finishing his BA in History at Washington University in St. Louis, he took a black-and-white photography course and was instantly hooked on the medium. In 1999 he took a full-time assistant position in New York with the legendary portrait photographer Arnold Newman. He continued assisting for top fine-art and commercial photographers including Nadav Kander, Jose Picayo, and George Holz. In 2008 he started shooting on his own full time. His commercial clients include Fila, the New York Yankees, and Major League Baseball. His portraits and photo essays have appeared prominently in the best-selling books Yankee Stadium: The Official Retrospective and A Race Like No Other, and been on the cover of multiple issues of Yankees Magazine and the New York Daily News. His personal projects include Fela Queens, and he is currently working on an exploration of Caribbean Carnival. His commercial, editorial, and fine-art photography is inquisitive, humanistic, sensitive, and technically sophisticated. The accompanying photo was taken moments before he mauled NFL Hall of Famer John Randle.
