Stephen Talasnik

Stephen is currently weaving a large scale Iceberg that will float in the Delaware River near Philadelphia.

Originally from Philadelphia, Stephen Talasnik grew up in a neighborhood surrounded by oil refineries, airport, ship builders, and sports stadium. His drawings, sculpture, and installations that explore the hybrid arenas of art and architecture. All three dimensional works are skeletal or linear taking their vocabulary from drawing. His graphic works explore both small scale invented botanical subjects while larges scale works explore the aesthetics of the visionary architect. He uses no measurement in the creation of his sculpture, instead relying on instinct and improvisation in creation of the works— the exception being his large scale outdoor works for which he collaborates with engineers. A graduate of RISD, Talasnik has spent several years living in Europe and the Far East. His work ares in public collections like the Metropolitan Museum (NY), National Gallery of Art (DC) the Pompidou (Paris) and the Albertina (Vienna), his large scale installations have been featured at the Storm King Art Center (NY), Tippet Rise Art Center (Montana), and the Architektur Galerie Berlin.
