Concha Woodwork

www.davidconcha.com

Born in Chile, David Concha is the youngest of a generation of woodworkers.

David realized that what he had learned by experience alone wasn’t enough to satisfy his curiosity regarding this special art/skill.  And in his search for more knowledge, he found in Santiago a career which fit his interests: “Industrial technologies in Wood Process” at the International Institute of Professional Training (INACAP).

In those years he learned how to plant a seed, grow a tree, cut it down, mill it, dry the wood, as well as how to best utilize every tool and machine involved in the process.  He also learned how to distinguish which species of wood served the best function for the specific application:  from general construction, to the fabrication of doors, staircases, cabinets, and furniture pieces.  And then, he learned how to build and most importantly, how to imagine and create.

His motivation to keep learning found him initially based in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico where he fabricated furniture for  the purpose of exportation as well as to support the work of local designers and architects.

David subsequently moved to the states, and after five years of working in New York, is now based in Brooklyn where his passion and skill has been applied to the fabrication of  high-end custom pieces of furniture, cabinetry, architectural mill work and restoration for many well-renowned interior designers, architects and artists.  You can see the variety of his work spans the spectrum of design from classic to contemporary and has no limitations in the process of creativity.
